How many days do I need in Chongqing?

Two days for the city itself; three or four if you add Wulong Karst or a Yangtze Three Gorges cruise, which depart from nearby ports.

Is Chongqing worth it if I'm already going to Chengdu?

Yes — they're nothing alike. Chengdu is flat, teahouse-calm; Chongqing is a vertical neon fever dream. The 1.5-hour train makes combining them trivial.

Is the Three Gorges cruise still worth doing?

The dam raised water levels, so the gorges are wider but still dramatic. Most travelers rate the 3–4 day downstream cruise to Yichang as a trip highlight.

Is Chongqing too spicy for me?

Ask for a yuanyang (split) pot. Also note: Chongqing locals consider 'not spicy' a relative term.
